Meet The New Exec 2020-2021
VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITY

Warwick HoASoc x Art History Link-Up

A collaboration between Warwick History of Art Society and Art History Link-Up, a charity dedicated to providing free accredited Art History courses for sixth form state-supported students.
We are looking for volunteers to act as mentors to AHLU's students and their Extended Project Qualifications (EPQ). Once assigned a student, mentors will monitor the progress of the project through key stages, supporting research and independent discovery, and then mark the project which is then second marked and moderated by AHLU. Volunteers will be given plenty of written guidance, videos, and access to google drives to ensure the most valuable help to students.
Mentors will need to be confident and reliable, with good time-management skills. The majority of the volunteering will start late autumn and carry on until the following summer term.
If interested please apply via the google form (applying does not guarantee you will be assigned a student): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSexnJWwfZPw1LFfH-MOXawsR-rbpmG509FKHQ5AA3ZQQO_snA/viewform?usp=sf_link
Any questions or for more information please email Maya at u1919049@live.warwick.ac.uk, or message directly.

CAREERS
Hello everyone!

Unfortunately, the time has come; emails explaining the cancellation of summer internships are reaching our mailboxes. Art institutions are unlikely to reopen in the early summer and equally unlikely to have the budget to support their interns. In response to this, the History of Art Society wants to help you find a fallback plan, and opportunity to add art-related experience to your CV this summer despite the current circumstances. While it may be a while before the internships programmes resume, art institutions will likely be looking for volunteers.

Here is a spreadsheet of volunteer opportunities across the UK; each with the links to vacancies and application guides. With Churches, Museums, Galleries and Estates we hope there is something for you. While these opportunities may not be paid, many offer formal training and high-level experiences, as guides, researchers, in exhibition planning and even conservation. It is also worth noting that certain positions are online, and can be completed from the comfort of your own home.

We will continue to edit the sheet over time, so make sure to check back later if you don't find anything that suits you just yet.
Please DM us if you notice any necessary edits, or have suggestions for other institutions worth adding to the sheet.

Warwick Alumni Q&A with Ravi Shah and Bella Ruddick

Bella Ruddick:
I work at Parker Fine Art Auctions in Farnham, Surrey, where I'm lucky enough to do a bit of everything. We hold a sale of fine art and frames every four weeks, and I am involved in the entire process: taking pictures in, assisting in cataloguing and research, corresponding with clients in the lead up to sale day and then taking telephone bids and operating the online saleroom during the live auction. I have also recently been put in charge of organising and administrating our new venture into timed online auctions of decorative art.
Ravi Shah:
I work at the British Library as the commercial marketing associate.
I look after all the revenue streams, developing their marketing strategies and helping them on their pandemic recovery.
The departments I work with are; exhibitions, retail, venue hire, Public lending right, publishing and my favourite…digitisation.
I’m not just responsible for all their physical and digital marketing, I also get to work on a lot of big picture strategy.
As part of the Library’s recovery plan, they wanted to build the departments’ marketing plans from the ground up meaning I also get to propose, manage and implement my own innovative ideas.

Are you excited about Coventry being this year's UK City of Culture?

We want YOUR reviews of the big events for a special, student-led blog with Warwick's History of Art department.
