INTRODUCING: Jann Haworth (b. 1942) Jann Haworth will be joining us in conversation on Thursday, 4th of March at 18:00 GMT on Microsoft Teams, hosted by our president Louise Olof-Ors. This event will also include an on-going Q&A open to the public, so come along with any questions you might have!
A Hollywood native, Jann Haworth began her career in the 1960s, while she was a fine art student at Slade and an art-history student at the Courtauld in London. She has navigated the US and UK art scenes ever since, pioneering the Pop aesthetic, soft sculpture and textile collage, through works such as Maid (1966), the Dreaming Painters series (2003-2004) and Work in Progress (2016), a reinterpretation of her 1967 Beatles vinyl cover, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band done in collaboration with her then-husband Peter Blake.
Join us for a discussion of the roles of materiality and handcraft in her practice, her relation to celebrity culture, and her position in a male-dominated artistic scene!
